would love some help on clear plastics vrs coloured, in terms of garbage bags. Our county is forcing its residents to use clear plastic bags instead of garbage cans, or coloured plastic bags. They want to see what is in our garbage so we dont have more than 5% of items like recycling or green bin (compost) items in our garbage bags/ Want to know more about the process, basically to make clear plastic, is there extra processes to make it perfectly clear…are coloured bags worse than clear ones… I know they are all bad and we ususally use bins…we compost almost everything we can and recycle what is allowed. I want to know if clear bags take more or less processing to make compared to coloured. (up here in Canada, we are huge recyclers but this we think is more an invasion of privacy than anything) would appreciate any help or direction. Thanks so much!

Cant really help- Most plastics that I know of need treating or additives to change the color or to make them clear but the nature of these processes are often kept a manufacturers secret. And according to them all plastic is safe. It also will depend on the type of plastic used. To conclude, there is no general rule that I know of re coloured or see through plastic. Sorry I couldn’t be more use – do let me know if you find anything out – would be most grateful.
