Cream cheese used to be sold wrapped in foil – now it comes in nasty plastic pots which I shun. As cream cheese and bagels, coffee and radio four is the best Sunday breakfast ever, an alternative had to be found. My mates at WF Denny came to the rescue. They sell PLA plastic packaging. This looks and acts just like plastic but is made from corn starch rather than oil. Not only is this a renewable resources it is also compostable.

I bought pots with lids specifically made to serve food portions such as sauces dips and cream cheese in. I take these to delis who sell cream cheese by weight -full fat or skinny- as much or as little as you want and ask that they use my tubs.

They are also good for

Olives

Humus

Potato salad

Pate

and anything else you can buy by wieght.

You can buy the tubs and lids in multiples of 100. With delivery and vat, tub and lid work out at around 13p each. Though of course the more you buy the cheaper they are.

The pots are really sturdy and don’t as you might imagine start melting the minute you use them. For instance, I use them keep my home made cosmetic cream in – months later there is still no sign of disintegration.

For more information go to www.wf-denny.co.uk or call them on 0161 927 49 49 – orders in by 1pm will be dispatched the next day.

More Information

Dennys are a wholesaler and will only sell large amounts. I believe other suppliers will do different multipals
